Afternoon Tea Party with the Lord Mayor

Pupils were thrilled to be joined by The Lord Mayor of Leicester today, as part of this term's new topic: 'Bright Lights, Big City'.

Y1 were very smartly dressed for the occasion and thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon spent with the Lord Mayor, Ross Grant, who arrived to a warm LGJS welcome wearing elaborate robes, a valuable civic gold chain and an impressive feather plumed felt hat with gold lace.

The children were then entertained with fascinating facts about his role, and explained all about his civic duties and his busy year supporting charities, maintaining and promoting the interests of the city and its citizens, and attending a variety of engagements during the year.

A wonderful end to the afternoon saw the children and The Lord Mayor sit down together to enjoy each other's company and a delightfully British afternoon tea.
