Clubs and Activities

There are a wide variety of co-curricular activities for pupils of all ages during lunch times and after school. These activities are included in the school fees unless specifically specified - please see the PDF at the bottom of this page.

Important registration for Trinity 2022....

Clubs run internally by school will commence Wednesday 27 April, up until Friday 1 July, the final full week. Gymnastics & Cheerleading will begin Tuesday 26 April.

If you wish to register for external opportunities, they are listed below with plenty of information:

Yoga with Sherraine Morris - Monday

  • Year 3 - 6: 3.45-4.45pm

This is a new Yoga Club to be held at Leicester Grammar Junior School every Monday after school. For more information, click here

Yoga is a wonderful way to help children both physically and emotionally, by building strength, flexibility, resilience, balance, and focus.

Classes can include stories, games, singing, along with postures, breathing and relaxation techniques, helping children to be calm and ease anxiety.

Gymnastics with Rob Payne - Tuesday

  • Year 2: 3:00pm - 4:00pm 

  • Year 3 & 4: 4:00pm - 5:00pm

Gymnastics club has been running as a popular co-curricular club for 7 years at Leicester Grammar and offers our pupils the chance to explore movements that are core to many sports as well as their physical well-being. Run by a former international gymnast Rob shares his experience by encouraging pupils to explore gymnastic based shapes, jumps, rolls, balances, steps and vaults. Children develop their self-confidence and are encouraged to push their boundaries whilst performing arial skills under Robs guidance.

Cheerleading with Leigh-Anne Wright - Tuesday & Thursday

This Cheerleading Club, held at Leicester Grammar Junior School, has been running for 7 years now and has been incredibly successful. The Cheerleaders have produced some amazing routines and performed at an Awards Evening, numerous Assemblies and throughout Sports Week.

You will learn a mixture of stunts, jumps and tumbling skills as well as dance routines, so if you fancy trying something new or have been coming and wish to continue, then please sign up.

Street Dance with Kelle Garner (Lemon Jelly) - Wednesday & Friday

  • Wednesdays Year 2: 3:00pm - 3:45pm 

  • Fridays Year 1: 3:00pm - 3:45pm & Years 5 & 6: 3:45pm - 4:45pm

When Hayley and Kelle set up Lemon Jelly in 2007, their aim was to provide a safe and fun environment for children to experience everything that the world of performing arts could offer, essential skills for life (not just a career in the arts).

Hayley and Kelle both trained at one of the most famous drama schools in the world, Italia Conti Academy of Theatre arts. Following their exceptional training and an exciting career in all areas of the industry, they now proudly pass on their valuable experience and knowledge to many young people. With over 1000 children attending their classes every week, Lemon Jelly is living up to its aspiration of giving confidence to as many kids as they possibly can through performing arts!

Indian Dance with Smita (Nupur Arts) - Thursday

Join us, Nupur Arts Dance Academy, in our vibrant, energetic and intricate Bollywood dance club. Our Indian dance classes are run by specialist teachers who incorporate a traditional and folk style of Indian dance with upbeat modern and global influences. 

We are also a qualified Arts Award centre, so all children will get the opportunity to gain an Arts Award qualification awarded by Trinity college, London eventually contributing towards their UCAS points. Alongside multiple performance opportunities at our academy’s annual shows and external performances throughout the year!

Tennis with Luke Godsmark (Head of Tennis, Senior School) - Friday

I am a tennis coach at LGS and am based at Knighton Tennis Club. I am an LTA Level 3 qualified coach with over 13 years experience in coaching, hold a full DBS, first aid qualification & insurance. I started working with the LGS 7 years ago, coaching all ages & abilities. I am keen to work with any children with an interest in tennis, with or without experience. KJ Golf Academy are proud partners of Market Harborough Golf Club. KJ Golf have 4 PGA Golf Professionals providing tuition, retail and expertise to all golfers. On top of private tuition they have 3 fantastic academies- mens, ladies and junior group coaching. The junior academy has become very popular over the past few years with over 100 juniors involved. The academy programmes provide the perfect pathway in becoming a member at Market Harborough GC. The golf club is branded as  “the Friendly Club” as offers a stunning 18 hole course, 5 hole flipper course, sheltered practice range, chipping area, putting area and welcoming club house”.
